Where the line runs
Pulling a fence in a few feet and planting outside it changes a boundary from defensive to deliberate. That decision is nearly free on a picture and awkward once posts are set.
Style, material and colour
Board-on-board, horizontal, picket, ornamental metal, vinyl: each has a different weight against your house, and a dark stain disappears into planting while a bright white one becomes the main event. Test that against your own siding before committing.
