Why a court is the hardest thing to sell on paper

Homeowners can read a patio from a plan because they have stood on patios. A 30-by-50 slab in the middle of a lawn is different: is it too close to the deck, does it kill the sight line from the kitchen window, will it dominate the yard, where does the hoop pole land, how tall is the fence really, and what happens to the whole thing after eight in the evening. What a court concept should decide before anything is ordered

Footprint and orientation — a 30-by-50 multi-sport pad reads very differently rotated ten degrees, and rotation is free on screen. Surface colour — red and grey against brick and mature hardwoods, or blue and green against evergreens. Containment — how high the fencing or netting has to be before it starts to feel like a cage from the kitchen window. Play after dark — whether the hour after a game finishes is usable at all, which is a night lighting decision rather than a court one.

What a concept does not decide: base depth, aggregate spec, drainage, frost heave, pole footings, tile versus post-tensioned slab, or the local code that governs pole height and light spill.
