Darin started working in horticulture and landscape construction in the early 1980s, and the company website dates the beginning of that career to 1984 (Landforms Design Inc, About). That adds up to 42+ years of horticultural and landscape construction experience, more than 31 of them running his own company. The order of that sentence matters. He learned plants and grade and drainage first, on job sites, and the business came afterwards — which is why the tool we are building is unusually stubborn about scale and site conditions.

Landforms is a fully licensed and insured landscape contractor, and the company reports more than 500 completed landscape design and construction projects. It also reports 300+ Backyard Sports Center™ installations designed and built across the country, and that Darin has appeared five times on ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition alongside host Ty Pennington. Why a landscape contractor built an AI landscape visualization tool

Outdoor space is difficult to build almost everywhere. Clay-heavy soils, freeze-thaw winters and unpredictable spring rain mean a patio that was drawn without thinking about water will move, and a retaining wall that was drawn without thinking about drainage will fail. After three decades of that, you develop a specific kind of impatience: you can see the finished yard clearly in your head, the client cannot see it at all, and the only bridge between those two states used to be a slow drawing that nobody wanted to pay to redo.

Darin already worked visually. He is a licensed FAA drone pilot and aerial photographer, and he designs with Uvision 3D Landscape Creator. Aerial photography changed the conversation once, because a drone frame shows the whole property, the grade, the drainage path and the real distance between the deck stairs and the fence line. The obvious next step was to make that aerial frame editable — to let a homeowner point at their own roofline and see a patio, a pool, a court, a wall or a lighting scheme appear in the right place at the right size. That is what PlotVisionAI is: an AI landscape visualization tool built by the person who has to install whatever gets approved.

What the trade experience actually contributes

Specifically: premium hardscape construction with limestone, keystone block, flagstone and Unilock pavers; retaining walls and drainage systems; aerial-informed grading; and custom home sports and recreation spaces. Those are the categories the tool understands best, because they are the categories that have been built repeatedly by hand. A visualization tool built without that background will happily draw a beautiful seat wall with nowhere for water to go. This one is being built to refuse.

It also shapes what the tool refuses to claim. A concept is accurate about position, scale and relationship. It is not a construction document, and base depth, material thickness, drainage detail and structural design still need a human. Anyone who has taken a wall apart because someone trusted a picture will tell you the same thing.

Where the two companies sit

PlotVisionAI is a sister platform of Landforms Design Inc, not a lead-capture front for it. The tool is built for homeowners and landscape professionals worldwide and is meant to be useful on its own: wherever your property is, take the concept to a contractor you trust. Landforms’ own construction crews are a separate, regional business and hiring them is never a condition of using the tool. The honest reason to mention the connection at all is that it explains why the concepts look the way they do: twilight scenes, warm uplighting, curved edging, real material names.

The product is in early access. The page you can try on the homepage is a working prototype of the interface; concept generation, the editing model, pricing logic and accounts are still in development, and pricing is labelled accordingly.
